At New Directions, we’re all about shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Serving Knox County, OH, and the surrounding areas, we offer dynamic youth leadership programs designed to inspire, educate, and empower. Whether your teen is an aspiring athlete, a budding activist, or just looking for a positive direction, we've got programs that fit.
Our youth leadership programs include:
Grade Levels: 6th grade - collegiate
Session Length: Ten 30-40-minute sessions
Program Description: Athletes as Leaders is a research-based prevention curriculum developed by Futures Without Violence. This program aims to empower youth to actively promote healthy relationships and end sexual violence. Participants are encouraged to become leaders in transforming peer norms and school climate towards a culture of safety and respect. The program focuses on building a positive school culture and ending sexual violence. It enhances participants' ability to identify abusive behaviors, fosters belief in gender equity, and boosts self-image and confidence.
Session Topics:
Target Audience: Male youth (6th grade - collegiate)
Session Duration: Ten 15-30-minute sessions
Program Overview: Coaching Boys Into Men is an evidence-based prevention curriculum developed by Futures Without Violence. This program aims to foster healthy relationships and prevent violence before it starts. It provides a platform for male youth to engage in discussions and activities that promote healthy relationship skills and reinforce the belief that violence is never a sign of strength. The curriculum has been shown to positively influence bystander behaviors and reduce the incidence of abuse among participants.
Session Topics:
Target Audience: Female youth (5th - 12th grade)
Session Duration: Twenty 45-minute to 1-hour sessions
Program Overview: Ruling Our Experiences (ROX) is a research and evidence-based program designed to empower female youth. It aims to simultaneously impact girls, educate and support the female adult influencers in their lives, and improve societal conditions that may negatively affect them. ROX helps girls develop social, personal, and academic skills to communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, and support others.
